In Edgar Allan Poe&8217s &8220The Pit and the Pendulum and &8220The Masque of the Red Death, the condition uses different symbolization to illustrate the image of finish. In both of these stories, end is the final result of a punishment, the end of a human&8217s life. However, in the first story, Poe shows us that there exists something in human &8216s life that is more than terrible than death. And in the second story, Poe tells us that death is inevitable and it is empty if you try to guide it. From the beginning of &8220The Pit and the Pendulum, Poe starts to show us the desperation and the terror the bank clerk feels in the prison.
